1.) Raf Grassetti
Raf is the art director at Sony Santa Monica studios and he worked on the god of war game, His work on Artstation is mainly character based and he varies from character to creature. I like the detail that he adds to his models from the model itself to the textures on the model. His renders are well lit and composed and they background uses the same colour pallet as the model. One of my favorite pieces of art from Raf is his reimaging of characters from the 90's animated batman series, he updates them and gives them a modern feel whilst also keeping Bruce Timm's iconic character design. Thing i would love to take and incorporate into my work is his textures they have a very real and tangible feel to them which i hope to be able to emulate.
2.) Wren Weichman
He is a visual effects artist at Corridor digital which a small studio in LA which work on small narrative based YouTube videos. The reason i like Wren so much is that on Corridor's second channel he has a series where he uses visual effects to showcase and explain abstract scientific concepts which people may find hard to understand for example he uses visual effects to show off the scale of planets as most comparisons quick lose context and he uses vfx to provide that he also does fun things like showing star wars ships scales in real world comparisons. The reason I find Wren to be an inspiration because he's persistent especially when he faces a challenging shot and how he uses vfx as a tool to educate. Things i hope to learn off Wren is his tips and tricks for example a uses a method in after effects that uses unsharp masks to pull detail from the footage so he can get a smoother track.
