sequences are a set of numbers that follow a set of rules or a pattern, the rule can be used to add or subtract from a set.

The curly brackets ( {} )in which the sets are contained are referred to as the braces.

The sequence usually has a rule that is used to find the next like term. For example the Fibonacci sequence where you add together two numbers in your sequence to get the next one.
