Case study 02 - Health and Safety

1) Discuss your H&S case study

2) Highlight where you successfully mitigated danger; reflect on areas you may have missed

We identified obvious areas like using a fake bottle made of sugar glass (For close ups) and maybe switching to a plastic or rubber bottle for the actual fighting to avoid any serious damage. We decided on bringing in a stunt team to choreograph the fight and make sure it is done safely with stuff like mats and pads. For things like the environment we were gonna use a market that we could close and alter for set decorations and stunts so we would hire security to keep the sets closed and to guard things like props. Due to this taking place at a market we will need a crowd of people so hiring extras that we can tell what to do and when is the best thing to do as we can make sure people are controlled and safe and don't run into to past equipment like cameras, lights or boom poles.

3) Not all danger is physical; in terms of a project, discuss what can go wrong and how you could avoid this.

To avoid any fatigued or tired actors food would be provided with food and their hours wouldn't be too long as having them constantly repeat something that requires total focus for hours would be a risk as all it takes is one moment of being unfocused to lead to an accident.

4) Using the link provided below as a starting point, see if you can uncover how much money was paid out in settlements and fines for production companies found guilty of negligent behaviour toward H&S concerns. Who was directly responsible? See who can find the largest settlement.

Bruce lee was fighting bob wall in "enter the dragon" and he accidently cut his hand on the broken glass bottle that bob wall was using as a weapon. After the incident Robert Clouse started rumours that Bruce lee wanted to kill Bob wall and that he should leave town however, Bob went and spoke to Bruce lee and sorted it out.
